Identifying Sustainable Alternative Livelihoods for the Pamaka Community

Pelatis successfully conducted an in-depth market research study for Newmont, identifying 15 alternative livelihoods with high development potential for the Pamaka community. This project aimed to create sustainable economic opportunities beyond small-scale gold mining, ensuring long-term socio-economic resilience.

Our research encompassed Suriname, French Guiana, and key economic hubs such as Paramaribo and Albina, integrating both primary and secondary data. The feasibility study for each livelihood provided clear insights into market demand, investment requirements, and growth potential. Additionally, we identified funding mechanisms to support micro-enterprises, helping to facilitate real economic transformation.

Pelatis also engaged stakeholders through presentations, workshops, and field assessments, ensuring the research aligned with community needs and aspirations. Pelatis successfully created a comprehensive business plan, including financial projections, for The Pansa Business Center, a dynamic venue designed to offer versatile event spaces and a rich culinary experience.

The business plan highlights modular event spaces, an integrated food hub, and advanced technological facilities, positioning the center as a key destination for a wide range of events. A strong financial strategy was developed, outlining growth opportunities, revenue streams, and operational efficiencies to ensure long-term sustainability.
